MENOMONIE (November 13, 2019) - UW-Stout trailed by as much as 18 points with about seven minutes left to play, cut the lead to five points, 89-84, with 44 seconds left and had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but fell 92-90 to Concordia-Moorhead Wednesday on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse. 
 
After whittling away 13 points to get to five points on Luke Geiger's layup with 44 seconds remaining, following a pair of timeouts, Geiger stole the ball on the Concordia end of the court. Stout's Jon Ciriacks was fouled with 31 seconds left and made the first to pull Stout (0-2)  to within 89-85.
 
Concordia's Thomas Schyma drained a pair of three throws to give the Cobbers (1-2) a six point 91-85 lead.
 
Geiger was fouled on a layup, but missed the free throw which was rebounded by Tyreese Alexander, who fouled. Alexander hit the back end of a pair of free throws to pull Stout to within three points, 91-88 with 24 seconds left.
 
The Blue Devils' Josh Mericle crafted another steal and fed the ball to Geiger, but Geiger's shot was blocked and Concordia had possession with 12 seconds left. A Stout foul and Concordia's Camden Arndt made one free throw to stretch the lead to 92-88. Alexander rebounded and fed the ball to Ciriacks who made the shot with 1.9 seconds remaining to pull Stout within two.
 
Stout immediately fouled Arndt, who missed both shots. Geiger grabbed the rebound and threw up the prayer that hit the top of the backboard as the buzzer sounded.
 
Geiger led all scorers with a career-best 31 points, 28 of those points coming in the second half. Ciriacks finished with 21 points and McCray and Marcus Hil each had 10 points for Stout.
 
Concordia also had four players in double digits, with Schyma hitting his third consecutive 20-point game, finishing the night with 21 points. Bryden Urie had 15 points, Arndt 14 and John Reiten 13.
 
Stout returns to action Saturday, Nov. 16 at Lakeland University.
