MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Ripon shot 58 percent (35-61) from the field Tuesday night, including 42 percent (10-24) from 3-point range, en route to an 84-65 victory at Cornell College. The Red Hawks received contributions from several different players, with 36 points coming from the bench, and five players scoring in double digits.

Cal Schultz gave Ripon (13-9, 9-6 MWC) the lead with a jumper on the game's opening possession, and the Red Hawks wouldn't trail the entire night. Cornell (6-15, 4-10 MWC) kept things close for the first several minutes, before Ripon opened up their lead thanks to four consecutive 3-pointers from freshman Ben Young to put the Red Hawks in front by 14 points. They would lead by double digits the rest of the way, taking a 20-point advantage into halftime.

Ripon's largest lead of 24 came on a Trent Jones layup in the opening minutes of the second half. Cornell shot 42 percent (22-53) in the game, but couldn't overcome the first half, which saw them make just 33 percent (8-24) of their shots.

Seth Kostroski led Ripon with a career-high 20 points off the bench, making 7-of-9 shots, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range. Jones added 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while freshman Owen Theune scored 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting in what was the first start of his collegiate career. Young scored 12 points off the bench, while Kyle Rutkowski also chipped in with 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting, to go along with four boards.

Cornell was led by Cooper Kabela's 17 points and five rebounds. TJ Connaker added 12 points and four boards for the Rams.

With the win, Ripon remains in sole possession of fourth place in the MWC. They will be in action again on Saturday when they'll host Monmouth College, who is just one game behind the Red Hawks in the conference standings. That game will begin at 3 p.m. in Willmore Center, and will also serve as Ripon's Senior Day and 'Play For The Cure' game.
