RAMAPO ADVANCES TO NCAA FINAL FOUR IN 68-66 WIN

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team won the 2018 NCAA Division III Sectional Championship in a thrilling 68-66 victory over the Massachusetts Institute of Technology this evening in a game played in the Bradley Center. With the win, the Roadrunners advance to the Final Four for the second time in program history. The 1991 Roadrunners finished with a 24-8 overall mark, advancing to the NCAA Final Four. The win also concludes a perfect 14-0 record for the Roadrunners at home this season.

The Roadrunners (25-6) opened the game with the first seven points and would lead by as many as six points (21-15) with eight and a half minutes left, but the Engineers would rally by going on a 20-10 run to claim a 35-31 lead with a little over five minutes left in the half.

Ramapo trailed 37-34 with under two minutes left before the break, but a Nick Stanek layup and a dunk by Christopher Moseley regained the lead for RCNJ. Moseley completed the and-one play with 36 ticks on the clock and James Long connected on a three-pointers with two second left to rebuild a 44-40 advantage at the break.

Senior Stanek led the Roadrunners with nine points (4-4 from the floor) and four rebounds. Moseley netted seven points, while Thomas Bonacum contributed eight points.

Tim Roberts and Ian Hinkley paced the Engineers with eight points a-piece in the first half.

Ford and Long used back-to-back layups three minutes apart to put Ramapo ahead 61-58 with 4:36 left in regulation, but a Cameron Korb three-point basket and consecutive free throw turned the tide and gave the Engineers a 62-61 edge with 2:36 to play. Both teams would go back and forth with baskets to deadlock them at 66-66 with 0:49 left in regulation.

A MIT foul with 0:00.9 left put Moseley on the line where he hit two clutch free throws to give the Roadrunners the 68-66 lead and eventual win.

Moseley led four Roadrunners in double figures with 14 points. Stanek finished with 12 points.

Ford scored 11 points, while Bonacum finished with the double-double of 10 points and 10 boards.

For MIT, Hinkley led three players in double figures with 14 points. Korb scored 13 points and Roberts added 12 points and a game best 12 rebounds in the loss.

The NCAA Division III Final Four will be held in Salem, Virginia with the semifinals taking place on March 16th. The NCAA Division III National Championship game will be played on March 17th.
