PITTSFORD, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team suffered a 77-74 setback on Saturday to hosts Nazareth College in the Heritage Christian Services Classic.
Keuka College (1-1) was led by a Ryder Mansfield (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte United) double-double. The junior scored a team-high 17 points and also led Keuka with 11 rebounds. Three other Wolves were in double-figures with Cliff Stevens (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) and Sam Brown (Syracuse, N.Y. / West Genesee) scoring 11 points and Trevor Powell (Manassas, Va. / Osbourn) adding 10 in the loss.
Nazareth College 77 vs. Keuka College 74
The Golden Flyers opened the game with five straight points for the early lead. The Wolves battled back, tying the game at 8-8 on a jumper by Matt Estes (Watkins Glen, N.Y. / Watkins Glen). Nazareth responded and built a lead in the half. They led by as many as 12 points on the back of three-point shooting. The Golden Flyers went 6-11 from deep in the first. Ryder Mansfield and Trevor Powell paced the Wolves with nine and eight points respectively, but Nazareth College led 42-32 at the half.
The Green and Gold outscored Nazareth College 8-0 in the first four minutes of the second half to narrow the margin to two, 42-40. Nazareth would regain their lead back to eight points, but the Wolves would not go away. Cliff Stevens picked up a loose ball in transition, dunked it and was fouled. His free throw made it 56-50 Nazareth halfway through the second. On the next possession, David Oliveras (Great Mills, Md. / Great Mills) got an offensive rebound and found Sam Brown for three to make the score 56-53 with 8:34 left to play. In the final minutes, Sam Brown knocked down another three with two minutes left to make it a one-point game. The Golden Flyers pulled ahead, but Keuka fought back. With 26.6 seconds left, Ryder Mansfield hit a corner three, narrowing the lead to two, 75-73. The Wolves would get the ball, but were unable to tie the game. They fouled with 6.4 seconds left and sending Nazareth to the free throw line for two shots. They made one of two and fouled Keuka before the Wolves could attempt a three. Keuka went 1-2 at the line and fouled on the rebound. At the other end of the floor, Nazareth went 1-2 as well. Ryder Mansfield got the rebound and let a three-quarter court shot go in an attempt to tie. The shot was short and Keuka College fell to Nazareth College 77-74.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will return home to the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center on Tuesday, November 21 for a 5pm games against Pitt.-Bradford. Keuka College has never beaten the Panthers in seven meetings, however the two teams have not faced each other since the 2001-02 season.
