Manchester University takes the sixth seed into the 2017 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament Friday through Sunday, Feb. 24-26.

Tourney details: The Spartans, in their second successive postseason league event, stand 9-16 and face off against third-seeded Anderson University at 8 p.m. Friday at Hanover College's Collier Arena in one of two quarterfinal round contests. The winner advances to semifinal round action Saturday at 7 p.m. against second-seeded Mt. St. Joseph University of Ohio with that victor moving into the finals set for 2 p.m. Sunday. Spartan Shorts: Coach Gerad Good's team comes into the tourney on a roll, having won two in a row and going .500 in its last six contests. MU used a pair of high-flying home decisions over Defiance (82-63) Feb. 15 and Transylvania (93-66) Feb. 18 to earn the postseason berth … The program looks to turn the tide of not having captured a conference postseason tournament win since 2011 … Sophomore guard Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) has tallied double figure points in four straight outings, averaging 21.5 ppg in the span, to go with 3.5 assists and better than four rebounds per contest in the period. Sophomore forward Evan Romie (Anna, Ohio) produced 18 points, four and a half assists, two and a half steals, and five rebounds per appearance while hitting 59 percent from the field; 54.5 percent from outside the arc; and hitting all four of his free throw attempts during the Black and Gold's two victories to close the regular season. His point efforts saw his season marks go up better than one (4.3-5.4) and his rebounding average climb two-tenths (2.1-2.3). Junior forward/center Enis Becirevic (Fort Wayne, Ind.) also goes into the tourney on a high note after tallying a near double-double of eight points and 10 rebounds in the victory over Transylvania.
