Seniors Propel Gophers to Landmark Win on Senior Day

More news about: Goucher

TOWSON, MD – All three seniors scored in double-digits to lead the Gophers (5-18, Landmark 2-10) to their second Landmark win of the season on senior day in the Decker SRC Saturday afternoon.

Seniors Chris Outing, Jesse Mondry and Tre Galloway III scored 24, 14 and 13 points, respectively. Outing's performance falls two points short of a personal best 26 points versus Moravian in January.

In addition to leading Goucher in scoring, Outing notched a team-high 15 rebounds – tying his career best in the category; a feat he completed versus Moravian in 2014.

Freshman Keon Butler also surpassed a personal milestone with 18 points in the game. His previous standard was 14 points he scored against Drew in January on the road.

The Blue Jays were led by the senior-freshman duo of Josh Eden and Connor Moffatt with 18 points each. Moffatt also paced Elizabethtown with seven rebounds in the contest.

How It Happened:

  • Goucher started out hot, and took an 8-4 lead before the Blue Jays knotted the game up two minutes later, 12-12.
  • E-Town held onto the lead for the next eight minutes before Butler nailed back-to-back free throws to take the lead 27-26 with 5:26 remaining in the half.
  • The Blue Jays scrambled to earn the lead back 37-32 with 2:29 to go, but the Gophers quickly wiped away the deficit and took a 38-37 lead into the locker room.
  • E-Town opened the second half with a three-pointer to earn the lead before Mondry dropped a long-ball of his own to put Goucher back on top. The Gophers would not trail again in the game.
  • Goucher hit 50.0% (12-of-24) of its shots in the second half, and carried the momentum into the final buzzer, 77-65.
  • The Gophers shot 51.9% (27-of-52) from the field over the course of the game while holding E-Town to 42.6% (26-of-61) shooting.
  • Goucher held an advantage in rebounds (39-32), 3PT shooting (46.2% to 28.6%), free throw shooting (65.4% to 50.0%), assists (20-11), points off turnovers (14-12) and fast break points (8-0).
