Camire Ties a Career-High in Non-Conference Finale Loss to Bates

FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team (2-16) wrapped up non-conference action with a 91-71 loss to Bates College (10-10) on Tuesday night in Dearborn Gymnasium.

Ryan Camire (Acton, Maine/Sanford) tied a career-high with 16 points on 4-of-6 shooting for the night. Camire was 7-of-8 from the foul line and recorded a pair of rebounds. Alan Young (Poland, Maine/Poland) also tied a career-high as three Beavers finished with 10 points. Young had a solid game with 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Nick Hilton (Wilton, Maine/Mt. Blue) and Eric Berry(Weld, Maine/Mt. Blue) completed the scoring trio with 10 points each.

Bates had four starters register double figures as Mike Boornazian scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting with 15 points coming long range. Josh Britten followed Boornazian with 14 points and sank four attempts from beyond the arc. Shawn Strickland and Malcolm Delpeche tallied 11 points apiece.

UMF had a strong first half and shot 46.9% from the field. The Beavers only trailed by six at the break, but Bates' hot shooting from outside and tenacity on the offensive glass helped the Bobcats snap a three-game skid. Bates charted 18 offensive rebounds and shot 19-of-42 (45.2%) from three-point land.

The Beavers played more of an inside game and outscored the Bobcats 28-20 in the paint. UMF was efficient at the line by making 11-of-14 trips and finished the game at 44.8% (26-58) shooting from the field.

UMaine-Farmington returns to action on Friday night and host conference foe Green Mountain College.
