Albany, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Basketball team saw its four game winning streak stopped on Saturday afternoon with a 106-81 road loss at league rival Sage. Senior James Zuccaro (Gilbert, Ariz.) led the Mount with a team-high 13 points.

After falling behind 7-0 in the opening minutes on Saturday, the Mount battled back to pull in front 10-7 following a fast break bucket from Antonio Johnson (Fort Johnson, N.Y.) just under five minutes into the tilt.

A three-point field goal from Madison Martinez (Atlanta, Ga.) would push the Dolphins in front 19-17 midway through the opening stanza, before the Gators used a 25-10 run to move in front 42-29 on a three-point play from Travis Gill with 2:47 left before halftime.

The spurt by the Gators would give them the lead for good in the game and aided the 46-38 lead they would take into halftime on Saturday. Sage shot 45-percent from the floor in the opening period, converting seven more field goals than the Dolphins. Kai Deans led all players in the half with 14 points on 7-for-9 shooting for Sage.

Mount Saint Vincent stayed within 10 points over the first seven-and-a-half minutes of the second half, but saw Sage put together a 24-8 run covering nearly five minutes to pull in front 101-74 with just over two minutes left in regulation time. The Gators would match their largest lead of the game in the final half minute on a Jacob Sopchak dunk that pushed the Gators in front 106-79.

Mount Saint Vincent was held to 35.1-percent shooting after halftime and saw Sage convert at a 63.3-percent clip. Deans went 7-for-8 from the floor to post 19 second half points to lead the Gators.

The Mount finished the game shooting 37.5-percent overall and went 10-for-30 from three-point range. The Dolphins had a strong day at the free-throw line, going 23-for-27 overall and converted on their first 19 attempts of the game.

Sage shot 52.9-percent for the game, a season worst for the Mount Saint Vincent defense and the Dolphins allowed 100 points for the first time since the Gators scored 101 points on December 2, 2013. Deans finished the game 14-for-17 from the floor on his way to 33 points, leading four players in double-figures.

Zuccaro went 7-for-7 from the free-throw line for the Mount on his way to the team-high point total and Johnson finished 4-for-4 from the line on his way to 12 points. Johnson added three steals in the game. Sophomore Kahlil Shorter (Staten Island, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 11 points and led the team with five rebounds and three assists.

Mount Saint Vincent allowed 18 offensive rebounds in the game leading to 21 Sage second chance points. The Gators also outscored the Mount 44-20 in the paint and totaled 23 points off of 15 Mount Saint Vincent turnovers.

Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 12-6 overall and to 8-3 in Skyline Conference play. Next up for the Dolphins is a trip to Maritime on Tuesday night. Tip-off with the Privateers is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
