Providence, R.I. – Junior Tom Garrick (Seekonk, Mass.) scored a season-best 31 points and added five rebounds and three assists to lead the Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team to an impressive 86-51 win over Norwich in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Wildcat Center on Wednesday evening.  The Wildcats have now won six games this season with a margin of victory of at least 20 points with back-to-back 30+ point wins.

Junior Clayton Roker (Bronx, N.Y.) was also in double-figures with 10 points and eight assists in the victory while junior Robert Lewis (Providence, R.I.) notched eight points and four boards for the Wildcats.

Freshman Mike Hogervorst (Leiden, Netherlands) led the way for Norwich with 12 points and three blocks while junior Jimmy Warden (North Andover, Mass.) tallied 10 points and two boards in the loss for the Cadets.

JWU led from the opening tip, taking their first double-digit advantage as a layup by Garrick made the score 16-5 with 15:10 left in the first half.  The Wildcats built on their lead throughout the first half, taking a commanding 45-23 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

It was more of the same in the second half as the Wildcats led by as many as 38 when a layup by junior Rudy Brito (Pawtucket, R.I.) put the score at 71-33 midway through the second half.  JWU then controlled the action down the stretch en route to the 86-51 victory.

With the win JWU is now to 11-3 overall and 6-1 in the GNAC while Norwich drops to 4-8 on the year and 1-5 in league play.  The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, January 17th when they travel to Mount Ida for a GNAC matchup starting at 3:00 p.m.
