 | The 23rd annual Harry James College Summer League begins on May 14. New Jersey City University retired Hall-of-Fame coach Charlie Brown oversees the eight-team league, which includes seven college programs—NJCU, FDU-Florham, Felician College, John Jay College, Kean University, Montclair State University and Stevens Institute of Technology—and one team of assembled collegiate players—'Team Blaze'.

The league features seven regular-season games contested on Tuesday and Thursday nights now through June 10. The quarterfinal round is Thursday, June 12 and semifinals on Tuesday, June 17, with the championship being decided on Thursday, June 19. All games will be played at Kean's Harwood Arena in Union, NJ.

NJCU has advanced to the league's championship game in 15 of 22 total seasons with seven first place finishes. 'Morgan All-Stars, the No. 6 seed, defeated top-seeded Kean in the 2013 final. Morgan will not participate in 2014.

The league, formerly known as the George Ballard Summer League and the Ballard/Stallworth College Summer League, was renamed in 2011 in honor of Harry James, the former East Orange Campus High School athletic director and Montclair State University athletic Hall of Famer, who passed away suddenly on December 4, 2010. James assisted Brown in organizing the summer league for many years prior to his death.
