Keystone's Season Ends With 80-73 Loss at Neumann in CSAC Quarterfinals

Aston, PA – Third-seeded Neumann University closed Saturday afternoon's Colonial States Athletic Conference quarterfinal game with an 11-2 run to pull out an 80-73 victory over sixth-seeded Keystone College at Neumann's Mirenda Center.  The Knights improve to 18-8 on the season and advance to take on Gwynedd Mercy University in a semifinal matchup on Tuesday night while the Giants end their season with 11-15 overall record. 
 
Keystone took a 14-13 lead 7:20 into Saturday's contest on a field goal by Miles Dargan (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) before Neumann countered with a 13-4 run that put the Knights up 26-18 with 7:37 remaining in the first half.  A three-pointer from Dargan brought the Giants to within a point, 34-33, with 2:17 showing before the hosts took a 38-36 lead into the locker room at halftime.
 
Mark Blount had 10 points and four rebounds in the first half for Neumann while Lamon Church led all players with five boards for the Knights, who connected on 48.3 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half while going 2-8 from beyond the arc and 8-13 from the free throw line.
 
Duncan Lunsford (Marietta, GA/Sprayberry) paced Keystone with 10 points and four rebounds in the first half while Dargan netted eight points for the Giants, who shot 43.3 percent from the floor in the opening half while going 5-14 from three-point range and 5-7 from the charity stripe.
 
Trailing 43-39 at the 18:32 mark of the second half, Lunsford hit a jumper that brought Keystone to within a point and started an 11-0 run that gave the Giants a 50-43 lead with 15:56 remaining in regulation.  Neumann countered with a 10-0 spurt to claim a 54-52 advantage with 13 minutes left on the clock.  The two teams traded baskets over the next seven and a half minutes before Lunsford drained a three-pointer to give the Giants a 71-69 edge with 5:29 remaining, but the Knights outscored the visitors 11-2 the rest of the way to advance to the semifinals.
 
Kevin Green finished with 20 points to lead five Neumann players in double-figures.  Blount netted 19 points, Reggie Coleman and Zak Thomas scored 15 points apiece, and DeShawn Lowman contributed 11 points in the victory.  Thomas led the Knights with eight rebounds, Blount blocked six shots, and Green led all players with four assists for the hosts, who ended the game shooting 51.9 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 54.3 percent from the line.
 
Lunsford led Keystone with game-highs of 28 points and nine rebounds while Dargan netted 16 points in the loss.  DaVaughn Thomas (Port Arthur, TX/Silsbee) contributed seven rebounds and three assists while Alex Smith (Floyd, NY/Holland Patent ) tied for the Giants' team-lead with three assists in the final game of his collegiate career.  For the game, Keystone hit on 42.4 percent of their attempts from the floor while shooting 40 percent from downtown and 84.6 percent from the stripe.  The Giants also held a 38-32 advantage in rebounds for the game.
 
Rosemont College, who defeated Immaculata University 80-69 in Saturday's other quarterfinal game, will travel to top-seeded Cabrini College in Tuesday's other semifinal matchup.
