Buffalo State Season Ends at Plattsburgh, 88-73

PLATTSBURGH, NY—Plattsburgh (21-4/15-3) used a late run to pull away from visiting Buffalo State for an 88-73 victory today, eliminating the Bengals from the SUNYAC playoff picture.  Buffalo State ended the season 12-13 overall and 8-10 in the conference, finishing in seventh place.

Bradley Doyley (Brooklyn/HS for Sports Management) was the leading scorer for Buffalo State with 18 points.  Senior Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) was 8 of 10 from the field and had 17 points, 18 rebounds and three blocks in his final game as a Bengal.

Plattsburgh held a 37-34 advantage at the intermission and never trailed in the second half.  The Cardinals pushed the lead to double-digits on multiple occasions before the Bengals cut the deficit to 76-71 with four minutes remaining.  Plattsburgh outscored Buffalo State 12-2 the rest of the way, however, to preserve the win.

Buffalo State held a 50-41 rebounding advantage and outscored the Cardinals 50-32 in the paint.  The Cardinals forced 22 Bengals turnovers, however, and outscored Buffalo State 18-6 from 3-point range.  Plattsburgh also had a 30-9 scoring advantage at the free throw line.
