BUFFALO, NY – The Medaille College men's basketball team matched up against a stingy Pitt-Greensburg Bobcat squad this afternoon and used a second half surge to propel them to a hard fought (78-71) victory in AMCC play.  The Mavs have now won four straight league games.

The first half had an ebb and flow feel to it as the Mavs grabbed the early lead only to see it evaporate midway through the opening twenty minutes.  The teams would trade the lead a few times in the closing minutes before Anthony Battaglia knocked down a three with six seconds remaining to snap a tie and give the Mavs a (35-32) lead heading into the locker room.

The second half would see Medaille come out on fire as they knocked down five three pointers in the first six minutes to stretch their lead to twelve.  Leading the way from behind the arc for the Mavs Tyler Stevens who finished with a team high (17) points as he connected on (4 of 6) from long range.  Senior Phil Maiarana went (3 for 4) from three point land and finished with (13) points while Jammal Coleman also knocked down three triples on a (14) point day.

The Medaille offense was directed by Angel Flores who dished out a game high seven assists while also chipping in with nine points.  Meanwhile David Shuey went (3 for 4) from the field and (6 for 7) from the charity stripe in a double/double performance of (12) points and a team high (10) boards.

The Mavs continue to shoot the ball well from the floor on the heels of their remarkable performance on Wednesday against Penn State-Behrend.  In today's win they were (57.8%) from the field and (47.8%) from behind the arc.  The Mavs reserves outscore the Bobcat bench (27-13) and they edged the visitors on the boards (23-19).

The Mavs improve to (16-2) overall and stay atop the AMCC standings at (10-1).  They will look to stay hot when they head Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday (1/25) for a 6:00pm AMCC showdown with the Panthers.
