MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College posted five scorers in double figures as the Green Knights pulled out an 80-70 Midwest Conference win over Monmouth College at Glennie Gym.

The Green Knights improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the MWC. Monmouth remained winless at 0-4, 0-2.

St. Norbert opened the game on a 14-2 run in the first 5 minutes 19 seconds, finished off by a Brandon Gries 3-pointer and a conventional three-point play by Mitchell Cloghessy. Following a Monmouth timeout, the Scots went on a 14-2 run to tie the game at 16-16. The lead would change eight times the rest of the half before the two teams settled on a 29-29 halftime tie.

The Green Knights led 35-33 with 17:34 left before Andrew Schwoerer scored six points during an 8-0 run for a 43-33 lead with 15:18 to go. St. Norbert would lead by as much as 18 points before Monmouth's last-ditch rally pulled them to within five at 71-66 with 1:26 to go, but the Green Knights made 9 of 10 free throws the rest of the way to close the game out.

Gries and Andy Fox shared the team lead in scoring with 15 points. Garrett Thorn added 14 points, and Schwoerer and Jack Whalen both had 11 points. The Green Knights shot 24-for-49 (49 percent) from the floor.

Kenny Forster led Monmouth with 18 points, while Kendall Cox added 16 points. The Scots shot 40 percent (22-for-55) from the floor and outrebounded the Green Knights 34-33.
