BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Basketball team picked up its first Commonwealth Coast Conference win of the season with a 73-49 win over Eastern Nazarene College Wednesday evening.

The Hawks were led by the 16 points and seven rebounds of senior Pat Flanagan (Somerville, Mass.). Also chipping in was junior Mike Igoe (Lexington, Mass.) with a career-high 13 points and nine rebounds. Matt Grossbard (Pearl River, N.Y.) added 11 points and four assists, while Matt Clifford (Norwood, Mass.) contributed nine points and nine rebounds off the bench.

Mike McCoy (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) led Eastern Nazarene with 11 points, while Chima Ezeigbo (Roanoke, Va.) finished with ten points. James Bertier (East Longmeadow, Mass.) added nine points and four steals, while Max Barbosa (Dorchester, Mass.) went for eight points and seven assists.

Ezeigbo knocked down a jumper a minute into the game to put the Lions on top 2-0 before back-to-back buckets by Igoe and Flanagan. That would be the last time that Eastern Nazarene would lead in the game.

Barbosa tied the game at ten apiece at the 11:10 mark in the first half on a steal and a fast-break layup. Yet Ryan Palumbo (Warwick, R.I.) put in a layup of his own on the Hawks' next possession. Another layup by Igoe in the final minute gave the Hawks their largest lead of the half, making it a 32-17 advantage for RWU going into halftime.

The Hawks maintained a comfortable lead throughout the rest of the contest, leading by at least 13 over the rest of the game.

Foul trouble plagued the Lions in the contest with 23 whistles to the Hawks' eight.

Roger Williams (2-2, 1-0 CCC) travels to Endicott this Saturday, while Eastern Nazarene (0-5, 0-1 CCC) hosts Wentworth on Saturday as well.
