LANGHORNE, PA - Facing an uphill battle from the start Monday evening, the Crimson Eagles couldn't overcome the hump during an 81-74 loss to visiting Centenary College.

Going down 18-6 throughout the first six minutes and watching the margin balloon to as many as 20 later in the period, the Crimson Eagles failed to complete what would have been a miraculous comeback late in the game, ultimately falling to the Cyclones despite a strong late-game push.

Centenary - who shot a blistering 57.9 percent (11 for 19) from long range for the game - held on despite getting outscored by the host squad 47-41 over the final 20 minutes of play.

PBU was hindered by 16 first half turnovers as the Cyclones capitalized on the Crimson Eagles' miscues, racking up 31 points off of the Crimson and White's mistakes.

Utilizing 12 different players throughout the contest, Centenary wrapped up a well-balanced attack with 11 of those players contributing to the scoring column and six different players tallying seven or more points.

After a shaky opening period on the offensive end, the Crimson Eagles picked up the pace in the second stanza by hitting over half of their attempts from the field during the back end of play. However, the group's late game push fell short as Centenary finished off the contest by knocking down several big triples during key situations.

Junior Claude Chalk pumped in 20 points for PBU while rookie Jeff Bishop added 18 points to go with nine boards and three blocks. Second year forward Freddie Santucci chipped in with 11 points on five of six shooting from the floor.

The Crimson Eagles will continue their search for the squad's first win of the season this Thursday during a meeting with Rosemont College in the Mason Activity Center at 8:00 pm.
