PURCHASE, N.Y. – After scoring only 26 first half points, the Mount Saint Mary College men's basketball team fired on all cylinders, scoring 48 second half points en route to a 74-63 comeback victory over the defending Skyline Conference champions, Purchase College, on Saturday afternoon. The Knight win matched last year's total and sent their record to 10-5 (8-2 Skyline), while the Panthers fell to 10-4 (6-3 Skyline).

Trailing 49-43 with 12:56 remaining in the game, the Knights went on an 18-6 run, punctuated by back-to-back three-pointers from freshman Donte Howell (Baldwin, N.Y.) and senior Chris Kingly (Washingtonville, N.Y.). Kingly's three with 7:49 remaining gave the Knights a six point cushion at 61-55.

With 6:56 remaining, Purchase senior Michael McNair (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to 61-58 but it would be the last gasp for Purchase, as the Knights held the Panthers to only two field goals the rest of the way. Leading 61-65, sophomore Lenny Ragaglia (Staten Island, N.Y.) drained a three-pointer with 2:07 on the clock to put the game away. The Knights went unchallenged over the final two minutes and finished with an 11-point win.

Junior Kevin Milella (Floral Park, N.Y.) led the way for the Mount, totaling 15 points on 7-of-10 from the floor. Milella also matched junior Carlos Valdez (Carolina, Puerto Rico) with a game-high eight rebounds. Valdez added nine points.

The Knights shot a sizzling 16-of-26 from the floor in the second half, including 7 of 10 from long range. Kingly went 2-for-2 from downtown, while Howell and Ragaglia each connected on three three-point field goals on four attempts. Ragaglia finished with 13 points, while Howell added 11.

For Purchase, senior Marvin Billups (Chester, N.Y.) scored 15 points on 7-of-9 from the field. Junior B.J. Warrington (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 points.

Impressive victory in hand, Mount Saint Mary returns to action on Tuesday, January 18. They'll host the College of Mount Saint Vincent in a 7:00 p.m. start at the Kaplan Center.
