Women's NCAA Tournament bracket released!

It's a great day to be a Knight.

As with our men's projections, our women's projections came down to one last pick, where the committee zigged, and we zagged.

So when we take Randolph-Macon at the end, but the committee takes Wartburg, that's par for the course, and a good indicator of how difficult it is. Projecting 18 out of 19 correctly is a major victory for the whole process -- it means to us that the women's committee is on the right track, and where in years past, at-large bids were selected with a heavy weight to winning percentage, now the whole resume is being taken into consideration.

So for Wartburg, which finished the season at 21-6, but had a pretty strong SOS at .584, but was just 1-6 against regionally ranked opponents, that was enough to edge out Randolph-Macon, which went 19-7, had a .565 SOS and had a win against UW-Oshkosh which impressed our committee.

Meanwhile, keep an eye on long-distance matchups such as Gustavus Adolphus vs. Ohio Wesleyan, Emory vs. Millikin, UW-Oshkosh vs. Washington & Lee, Marietta vs. Eastern Connecticut and Greensboro vs. NYU.

The resume for the final team left out of each region. If Wartburg was the last team in the field, then UW-Stout never actually got to the table to be considered.
