It was a good afternoon for the North Coast Athletic Conference women as No. 10 DePauw edged UW-Whitewater and Ohio Wesleyan topped No. 11 Trine. On the men's side, UW-Platteville dumped No. 7 Wash U. and No. 17 Augie held off Calvin.

Sydney Kopp capped an impressive weekend in Wisconsin as the 10th-ranked Tigers (3-0) tipped UW-Whitewater in overtime, 70-69. Kopp made four three throws in the final minute of overtime to give DePauw a 70-66 lead before Whitewater's Megan Corcoran canned a three with 15 seconds left to cut the deficit to one. The Warhawks fouled Kopp again, and this time she missed both free throws, but the Warhawks missed their final shot and DePauw stayed unbeaten.

Kopp finished with 62 points and 17 rebounds in back-to-back games against UW-Stevens Point and Whitewater. The Tigers attempted 32 free throws to the Warhawks' 13.

Ohio Wesleyan shot 50 percent from the field and 14-for-15 from the foul line in a 67-60 win over No. 11 Trine. Cierra Joiner scored 10 of her game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter for the Battling Bishops (1-2).

Loras got 23 points from Courtney Schnoor and 22 from Macenzie Kraemer, and the Duhawks (3-0) defeated visiting No. 17 UW-Oshkosh 88-83 in overtime. The losses by Whitewater and Oshkosh leave UW-Platteville as the lone undefeated WIAC team. The Pioneers (4-0) jumped out to a 22-9 lead on Chicago after one period and upset the 18th-ranked Maroons, 63-53.

No. 2 Tufts shook off a rough first quarter and pulled away from SUNY New Paltz 69-53 behind Emily Briggs' 21 points. The Jumbos (2-0) scored six points on 3-for-13 shooting in the first period, but only trailed the Hawks (2-1) by one. Briggs scored seven points in an 8-0 second quarter run that gave Tufts the lead for good. Conference mates Bowdoin opened its season with a 79-60 win at Endicott.

No. 3 Scranton scored 60 points in the first half en route to a 91-74 win at Gwynedd Mercy. The Lady Royals (2-0) got double-doubles from Makenzie Mason (16 points, 13 rebounds) and Sofia Recupero (10 points, 10 rebounds) but the star of the game was reserve Emily Shurina who scored 23 points in 17 minutes on 7-for-11 shooting.

No. 15 Christopher Newport rallied past Washington and Lee 76-73 on Anaya Simmons' layup with 19 seconds remaining, and Captains improved to 3-1. Simmons finished with 17 points and nine rebounds for the Captains who outrebounded the Generals 54-42.

Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda rolled up 26 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in No. 25 Emmanuel's 111-67 rout of St. Joseph's (Bklyn.). Oglethorpe turned 25 Randolph-Macon turnovers into 29 points and the Stormy Petrels rolled past the Yellow Jackets, 73-53. Randolph-Macon All-American Kelly Williams continued her return from last December's season-ending injury, scoring nine points in 19 minutes.

Illinois Wesleyan built a big lead through three quarters and that was enough to beat Calvin, 60-44. The Titans' last field goal came with 7:42 to play in the fourth quarter, but Calvin only managed nine points in that frame. Sydney Shanks scored 16 points for Illinois Wesleyan (4-0) which goes to UW-Whitewater next Saturday.

Eastern Connecticut gritted out a 45-43 win over Springfield thanks to two free throws from Julie Keckler with three seconds remaining. Anna Barry scored 12 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for the Warriors (2-0) who were missing two of their three captains.

Men: Platteville knocks off Wash U.

Quentin Shields and Carter Voelker combined for 49 points and UW-Platteville dropped No. 7 Washington U. 76-63 in a game the Pioneers led wire-to-wire. Voelker and Shields made six 3-pointers apiece and Platteville (3-0) shot 14-for-30 as a team from behind the arc.

The most entertaining game of the day happened in Worcester, Mass. where No. 10 Nichols outlasted New England College, 107-104. The Bison (2-0) got 100 points from their starters, led by DeAnte Burton who had 33 points in a full 40 minutes. Izaiah Winston-Brooks notched 34 points and 10 rebounds for the Pilgrims (2-1) before fouling out.

Micah Martin posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds and No. 17 Augustana held off Calvin, 70-67. Martin's layup with 2:26 to play gave the Vikings (2-1) a 69-65 lead, which the Knights trimmed to two on Derrick DeVries jumper with 43 seconds left. Augustana turned the ball over but Calvin missed a potential game-winning three with two seconds left. DeVries scored 24 points on 10-for-16 shooting for Calvin (1-1).

No. 1 Swarthmore built a 26-point lead at nearby Neumann and finished off an 86-76 victory over the Knights. Zac O'Dell had 13 points, 10 boards and four assists in 22 minutes for the Garnet (2-0) who host TCNJ in their home opener on Wednesday.

One night after reaching the 2,000-point milestone, Jake Ross just missed a triple-double in Springfield's 87-83 win over Emmanuel. Ross finished with 31 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists in 33 minutes for the Pride (4-0).

Jim Calhoun's second season as the head coach at St. Joseph (Conn.) got off to a rough start as Rhode Island College trounced the Blue Jays, 92-68. Shion Darby tallied 36 points for the Anchormen (2-0).
