Kim Wagers

Concordia-Moorhead named UW-Eau Claire lead assistant Kim Wagers as its new head women's basketball coach. She replaces Jessica Rahman who retired in April.

Concordia Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson announced the hire.

"We had an excellent pool of candidates and Kim really stood out during the entire process," Bergeson said in the school's release. "From the initial phone interview to the on-campus visit she did a great job of expressing her background in the sport, knowledge of the game and leadership towards the student/athletes."

Wagers played four seasons at Division II Minnesota-Duluth where she had four different head coaches in four seasons, including David Stromme who served as the Bulldogs' interim head coach for one season before moving to Concordia's conference rival St. Olaf.

After graduating with a bachelor's degree in exercise science, Wagers spent two seasons as an assistant volleyball and basketball coach at UW-Superior and then seven seasons as the lead assistant to Tonja Englund at UW-Eau Claire.

Wagers replaces Jessica Rahman who won a national championship at Concordia-Moorhead as a player and 273 games as the Cobbers' head coach. After a long run of winning seasons under Rahman, the Cobbers struggled in their last three and missed the MIAC tournament each time.

The Cobbers went 8-17, 5-13 in the MIAC and finished tied for ninth with St. Olaf last season.
