Salisbury University has announced that Andrew Sachs has agreed not to return as the institution's men's basketball coach.
Sachs, who was placed on leave earlier in October, has been head coach at his alma mater for the past three seasons, leading Salisbury to a 59-26 mark.
When contacted by Hoopsville and D3hoops.com, Sachs would not confirm that such an agreement existed.
"We thank Coach Sachs for all of his contributions to the men's basketball program," said athletic director Gerry DiBartolo, "and we wish him the best in his future endeavors."
Brian McDermott, who was named interim head coach less than two weeks before practice started, will guide the team through the 2018-2019 season and a national search will be conducted after the season. The Sea Gulls will begin 2018-19 with a home game against Arcadia on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Sachs is the second consecutive alumnus to leave the Salisbury men's basketball coaching position after a short stint. Josh Merkel left the institution to take the head coaching job at Randolph-Macon following the 2014-15 season.
