With more than 400 programs in Division III women's basketball, there are always lots of head coaching moves during the offseason. This page summarizes all the moves, starting with the coaches who left their posts at the end of the 2017-18 season. We have provided links to our coverage or press releases posted to our site by individual schools.
As we discussed in Around the Nation, the number of female head coaches for college sports, including basketball, has dropped since Title IX took effect in 1972. To help track whether that trend applies to Division III basketball we are showing each new coach's gender and prior coaching gig. Of the 67 new head coaches in Division III women's basketball, 43 are female. Five were men's basketball assistant coaches (or non-coaching staff).
