Medaille College named Finger Lakes (N.Y.) Community College head coach and former Nazareth player Kelly Broderick as its new head women's basketball coach.
The school's Athletic Director Amy DeKay announced the hiring on Sept. 7.
"Kelly has shown that she can coach a team poised to challenge for conference championships and will also be able to inspire a great family and team culture that we envision for the Women's Basketabll Program," said DeKay in the College's release.
Broderick had a successful two-year stint as the head coach at Finger Lakes Community College in nearby Canandaigua, New York. She led the Lakers to a 22-9 record in her first season and a 24-4 mark in her second as her team won the regular season and tournament conference titles.
Broderick also played at FLCC for two seasons and finished in the program's top 10 for three-pointers made in a season. She then played two seasons at Nazareth College.
"The experiences that I will be bringing with me from a four-year college basketball career, as well as my coaching at FLCC will allow me to continue building on the work that Rachelle Matthys has done here the past couple of years," said Broderick in the release.
She replaces Rachelle "Rocko" Matthys who went 42-62 in four seasons as the Mavericks' head coach. Medaille went 14-12, 11-7 in the AMCC last season.
