The offseason of transition continues at St. Mary's (Minn.) as the University announced that it is changing its head men's basketball coach.

A short release on the University's website states "Jamison Rusthoven will no longer be the Cardinal men's basketball head coach" and that a national search for his replacement will begin immediately. Rusthoven went 23-101 in five seasons with the Cardinals with the best mark coming in 2015-16 when St. Mary's (Minn.) went 9-16. Last season St. Mary's finished 1-24, winless in the MIAC and lost every game after beating Martin Luther in the season opener.

St. Mary's (Minn.) has not reached double digits in wins since 1999-2000 when the Cardinals went 11-13 and has not had a winning season since going 13-12 in 1986-1987

The University is also looking for a new head women's basketball coach. Brent Pollari took the head coaching job at Division II Wayne State in June.

The Cardinals' Athletic Director Dr. Nikki Fennern also stepped down in early July. Head baseball coach Nick Winecke is serving as the interim Athletic Director.
