Mark Jensen, who served as Whittier's interim men's basketball coach this season, had that interim tag removed and was officially announced as the head coach going forward.
Jensen and the Poets completed the 2017-18 season with a 10-15 record, 8-8 in the SCIAC, finshing fifth in the conference standings, two games out of the final conference tournament spot.
"I am thankful that Rob (Coleman, Whittier's athletic director) has put his trust in me and my staff going forward – this really is a dream for me, and we will work tirelessly to give our players the best experience they can have and try to make everyone associated with Poet basketball proud."
Whittier led the conference in scoring at 82.7 points per game.
