After losing its head women's basketball coach to Johns Hopkins, Dickinson found her replacement at Hiram. Emily Hays will fill the Red Devils' vacancy after three seasons with the Terriers.
Dickinson Director of Athletics Joe Giunta announced the hiring on Friday.
"Emily has a proven record of success in recruiting, on the court achievement, academic excellence as well as providing a complete student-athlete experience for the programs for which she has been involved," said Giunta in the College's release. "The Red Devil women's basketball program is currently in a great position to continue to build upon recent success and believe Emily is the appropriate person to lead that charge for the future - in the classroom, on the court and in the community."
Hays spent the previous three seasons as the head coach at Hiram in Ohio. She went 46-42 over that period, including a 17-9 record last season that is the best in Hiram program history. Hays previously spent two seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater Washington and Jefferson College. Hays was a three-time all-conference selection during her playing career at W&J, and the conference player of the year as a senior in 2009. She was also selected first team All-Region that season.
"I fell in love with Dickinson the second I stepped on campus and was able to see the endless possibilities for its students," Hays said in Dickinson's release "Coach [Katherine] Bixby laid a strong foundation and I am looking forward to taking the next step with the program."
Bixby left Dickinson after three seasons to take over the program at Centenial Conference rival Johns Hopkins.
Dickinson went 18-8, 15-5 in the Centennial Conference last season.
