Aanosen will replace Warriors' coach Skip Noon who will focus on his duties as Wisconsin Lutheran's athletic director. Wisconsin Lutheran announced Noon's decision to step aside from coaching on Friday morning.
"This is very difficult for me, but the time is right to move into the full-time role of director of athletics," said Noon. "When I started at WLC there were 250 students, eight sports, and no outdoor athletic facilities. Currently, we have 18 sports, 425 student-athletes, and the college needs me to focus my attention on leading the department forward."
Noon served as Wisconsin Lutheran's head coach for 25 years, including five when the Warriors were members of the NAIA. Noon led the program when it transitioned to NCAA Division III in 1997-1998 and took the Warriors to the Division III NCAA Tournament in 2006. Noon went 318-342 in his tenure at Wisconsin Lutheran, including the five years in the NAIA. He also served as the school's athletic director for the last 19 years.
Aanonsen comes to Wisconsin Lutheran from NACC rival Lakeland where he went 137-100 in nine seasons as the Muskies' head coach.
"I would like to thank Skip Noon and the entire administration at WLC," said Aanonsen. "It's a blessing from God to be able to work at such a special institution, and I am truly thankful for the opportunity they have given me. I am excited to mentor the student-athletes and help prepare them for lives of Christian leadership. I look forward to working with Skip and the rest of the WLC family for many years to come."
Lakeland finished 6-14, 8-17 in the NACC while Wisconsin Lutheran went 16-11, 12-8 last season.
