Millsaps announced that Justin LeBlanc is returning to his alma mater where he played and coached to take over the Majors' women's basketball program.
LeBlanc coached Centenary to a 9-17, 3-11 record in the SCAC last season, his only one in Shreveport. The Ladies were winless in their previous two seasons and had not won that many games since 1983.
"His reputation for the work that he did here as an assistant and at Centenary precedes him," said Millsaps athletic director Donnie Brooks. "We are excited about his return and we are looking forward to a great season."
Before taking over the Centenary women's program, LeBlanc was an assistant coach for Centenary's men's team under Adam Walsh for five seasons. Prior to that LeBlanc was an assistant with the Millsaps men for four seasons. LeBlanc played for the Majors from 2002 through 2006.
“I want to thank Justin for his tireless dedication to Gents and Ladies basketball these past six seasons,” said Centenary Director of Athletics and Wellness Dr. Bob Bunnell. “In one season as the head coach of Centenary women’s basketball, he did a phenomenal job in helping the team post its best record in more than a decade. Many coaches dream of coaching their alma mater, so this is a great opportunity for him. I wish Coach LeBlanc and his family the best.”
Centenary has begun a search for LeBlanc's replacement.
