LeTourneau has named Leslie Reinecker as its new head women's basketball coach, announced athletic director Terri Deike.
"Leslie will be a great fit for LeTourneau, because she brings a
solid basketball background and a passion for the game. She brings
a commitment to our Christian mission, to the academic development
and well-being of our student-athletes and to being one of the top
women's basketball programs in the American Southwest Conference.
Her various experiences in basketball have prepared her for this
challenge and we look forward to a bright future for YellowJacket
women's basketball."
Reinecker comes to LeTourneau after the YellowJackets reached the
American Southwest Conference basketball tournament for the first
time in 2013-14. The YellowJackets return a solid nucleus of
returnees along with veteran assistant coach Markeith
Brown.
Prior to accepting the position at LeTourneau, Reinecker served
as an assistant coach at Division I Sam Houston State in
Huntsville, Texas. With the Bearkats, she was responsible for the
development of team fundamental skills and guard play. Reinecker
was also involved in the scouting of opponents and the oversight of
the academic progress of the student-athletes. Reinecker also
assisted with the on-court coaching in practice and games as well
as the evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes, both on and
off the court. The Bearkats won the Southland Conference in 2013 en
route to the program's second-consecutive post-season appearance
and four-consecutive Southland Conference Tournament
appearances.
Reinecker spent two years as the head girls' basketball coach at
Prosper High School and three years at East Bernard High School; in
addition to serving as an assistant coach at Allegheny for two
years.
She earned her bachelor's degree with cum laude honors from
Southwestern, where she played under current Centenary College
athletic director Ronda Seagraves.
