Tufts scratched a seven-year itch by beating Amherst 63-56 in a battle of undefeated NESCAC foes.

Liz Moynihan scored 17 points, including a huge 3-pointer in the second half, as No. 7 Tufts defeated No. 3 Amherst, 63-56. It's the first time the Jumbos have beaten the Jeffs since Jan. 12, 2007. Hayley Kanner led the Jumbos with 18 points. Amherst All-American Megan Robertson left the game three minutes into the game with an injury.

Tufts improved to 13-0 and will not face Amherst again in the regular season since the conference plays a single round robin.

The No. 18 Williams women jumped out to a 42-19 halftime lead and cruised to a 69-55 win versus No. 22 Bowdoin. Lauren McCall came off the bench to score 24 points, shooting 9-for-11 from the floor and 6-for-8 from three-point range.

Emory's Savannah Morgan notched a team-high 22 points, including a pair of go-ahead free throws with under a second left in overtime, to keep the ninth-ranked Eagles' perfect season alive with a 70-68 win over Carnegie Mellon.

No. 8 George Fox held off Whitworth 59-56 in a game where both teams went cold from the field late. The Bruins built a 55-47 lead with 3:56 left and didn't make a field goal the rest of the game. But the Pirates only made one and George Fox hit enough free throws to stay undefeated. Whitworth drops a game behind George Fox and No. 4 Whitman, which topped Linfield 69-61.

George Fox hosts Whitman tomorrow night at 7 pm PT.

William Smith stayed hot and dumped Vassar 73-63 in a battle of the Liberty League's top teams. Chloe Hayter had 18 points for the Herons, who shot 52 percent from the floor and have won 10 straight.

Joey Lufkin scored 24 points and had five assists, Matt Patruccione added 21 and Jared Suderley had 20 points and 14 rebounds as Hartwick outlasted Alfred 131-124 in overtime.

Despite the fact that the game went to overtime, the lead only changed hands five times. Hartwick led by as many as 15 points twice in the first half but the Saxons rallied. Tyler Seelman scored the last five points of regulation to send Alferd into the extra session, but Hartwick scored 19 in overtime to put the game away. Seelman led Alfred with 19 points. The win gives Hartwick sole possession of first place in the Empire 8.

The Williams men completed the sweep over visiting Bowdoin, as the 10th-ranked Ephs handed the 19th-ranked Polar Bears their first loss of the season, 69-64. Michael Mayer led all scorers with 26 for the Ephs, while Duncan Robinson added 24 on 8-for-11 shooting.

John Ivy scored 17 of his game-high 22 points in the second half, leading Brockport to a 78-64 win over Oswego. The Golden Eagles (10-1, 4-0 SUNYAC) led by as many as eight points in the first half but Oswego (10-4, 4-3) rallied to tie the score at 37-37 at the half. Brockport then scored the first 13 points of the second half.

Schreiner took over first place in the SCAC by beating No. 25 Colorado College 71-58. Maverick Harris scored 12 points on four three-pointers off the bench for the Mountaineers, who are 4-0 in conference after going 4-7 outside of it.

George Fox knocked off Whitworth 98-85 behind hot outside shooting from A.J. Grant and Jonny Howard.  The junior duo combined for 42 points on 10-for-13 shooting from behind the arc. The Pirates' loss coupled with wins by Whitman and Lewis and Clark creates a three-way tie for first atop the NWC standings.
