Concordia-Moorhead held St. Thomas to 37 percent shooting from the floor and just four 3-pointers on the night as the Cobbers upset the No. 1 Tommies 54-52.

The Cobbers led by six points as late as 5:10 left in the game, but saw their lead disappear when Will DeBerg hit a 3-pointer with 1:50 left to tie the game at 52-52. The teams traded missed jumpers but Jason Huus made two free throws with 29 seconds left to give the Cobbers a 54-52 lead. St. Thomas missed three shots in the final nine seconds sandwiched around the Cobbers missing the front end of a one-and-one.

Concordia-Moorhead held on against a St. Thomas team that turned the ball over just four times, but missed eight free throws, including going 4-for-10 from the foul line in the second half.

Andrew Martinson led the Cobbers with 11 points off the bench, while Jordan Boler chipped in 10 as a reserve and Ebo Nana-Kweson added 10 points as well. Full story.

Earlier on Monday, No. 18 Albertus Magnus lost to a Division III team for the first time on the season as Anna Maria knocked off the Falcons 97-88. Anthony Click, Bradley Peterson and Joseph Barillo combined for 61 points. 

St. John's ended the game on a 28-11 run in the final 8:03 to give head coach Jim Smith his 750th career win, 73-66 over Carleton. Smith becomes the 19th coach in NCAA basketball history, all divisions, to reach 750 coaching victories. Smith has gone 750-531 in 49 seasons at SJU.

SJU (7-10, 6-6 MIAC) took a 33-30 lead into halftime despite being outshot 56.0 percent to 43.8 percent, thanks to a combined 13-6 advantage in second-chance points and points off turnovers.

Dan Kornbaum finished 10-for-10 from the field to lead Augsburg to a hard-fought 69-65 home victory against Bethel. Kornbaum finished with 27 points and 12 rebounds.

The Concordia-Moorhead women beat St. Thomas as well, as the Cobbers defeated the No. 12 Tommies 69-62. Tricia Sorensen came off the bench to score a team-high 15 points to lead five players in double figures in the Cobbers' victory. Concordia-Moorhead outrebounded the Tommies 39-25. Baruch improved to 15-1 by beating Richard Stockton 62-53 behind 27 points from Jessica Duleba.
