KING'S BASKETBALL TEAMS HOSTING DESALES SATURDAY IN CRUCIAL FREEDOM CONFERENCE DOUBLEHEADER

WILKES-BARRE  --  With only five games left in the regular-season, the King's College women's and men's basketball teams are both battling to find a way into the Freedom Conference Tournament. That quest will continue on Saturday when each King's team plays host to league rival Manhattanville College in Scandlon Gymnasium .  The women tip off the action at 1:00 p.m. with the men to follow at 3:00 p.m.

Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $2 for seniors, $2 for non-King's students showing I.D.  In addition, children under age-six shall be admitted free.  King's College students attend free at all ticketed events with the presentation of their current student I.D.

With the top-four teams qualifying for the Freedom Conference Tournament, the King's women are in fifth-place, one game behind fourth-place Manhattanville. The Lady Monarchs enter the matchup at 11-9 overall and 4-5 in league play after a 66-55 loss to three-time defending champion FDU-Florham Wednesday night. Manahattanville stands at 13-6 and 5-4 in conference games following a 65-57 home loss to Delaware Valley on Wednesday.  Manhattanville won the first meeting against King's 78-57 on January 24 in Purchase, N.Y.

On the men's side, King's has a bit more work to do as the Monarchs are tied for sixth-place with a 9-11 overall record and a 3-6 league mark after a 72-60 road win over FDU-Florham Wednesday night. Manhattanville, meanwhile, is in a three-way tie for third-place with a 12-8 overall ledger and a 5-4 Freedom record after a 81-74 home win over first-place Delaware Valley on Wednesday. The Valiants defeated King's 80-70 in the first matchup between the teams on January 24 in Purchase, N.Y.

King's women are paced by senior forward Jennifer Fabian who averages 12.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per-game while making 19 three-pointers. Junior small-forward Kayla Feairheller follows with 11.2 points and 3.4 rebounds while converting 34 three-pointers. Senior forward Tara Zdancewicz has been a spark off the bench with 7.5 points and 4.3 rebounds while 6-foot-2 sophomore center Olivia Hoffman has tallied 6.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 73 blocked shots.  Junior point-guard Kasey Seitz adds 5.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists while connecting on 22 three-pointers.

Freshman guard Cayle Spencer has posted 4.3 points and 2.4 boards with 15 treys while senior point-guard Sara Krupinski has registered 4.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists.  Freshman forward Alexis Steeber chips in with 3.8 points and 2.7 rebounds while sophomore guard Rachael DeTore chips in with 3.6 points and 2.0 rebounds.  King's averages 61.6 points while allowing 59.5 each contest.

The Valiant women are led by senior guard Ashley Raaf who averages 13.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.0 assists with 13 three-pointers. Senior guard Bri Pabon follows with 13.0 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.4 rebounds with 30 three-pointers. Senior guard Ashley Franklin adds 9.9 points and 6.5 rebounds while freshman forward Kayleah McGuire chips in with 9.0 points and 5.3 boards. Manhattanville averages 65.5 points while yielding 59.9 every game.

In the men's game the Monarchs will need to protect the ball better than in the first meeting. King's committed a season-high 22 turnovers in the game, resulting in 26 Manhattanville points off of turnovers.

King's is paced by junior forward Dan Rutecki tops the squad with 13.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists. Rutecki, who has battled injuries the first half of the season, appears to back in top form and has scored at least 24 points in three of the Monarchs' last four games. Sophomore guard Chris Fazzini follows with 11.7 points and 3.3 rebounds with 12 three-pointers. Senior center Tom Heston follows with 11.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. Junior guard John Fazzini contributes 9.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 25 three-pointers.

Freshman guard Jake Barber has tallied 7.8 points with 2.2 rebounds while junior guard Nate Oliver has posted 7.7 points with 29 three-pointers. Senior guard Connor Hughes averages 6.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 14 three-pointers while junior forward John Dini has registered 3.6 points with 14 three-pointers. Junior post player Derek Wilkins chips in with 3.2 points and 2.0 rebounds.  King's has averaged 74.4 points per-game while yielding 71.8 each contest.

For Manhattanville, senior guard Anthony Maestre tops the squad with 19.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 41 three-pointers. Senior forward Juan Camacho follows with 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 17 treys while sophomore forward Alex Tuci adds 12.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 17 three-pointers. Junior guard Charles Nardone  contributes 8.1 points and 3.7 rebounds while sophomore guard Dom Arena chips in with 7.6 rebounds, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. The Valiants average 77.1 points while allowing 75.9 points per-game.

After playing Manhattanville, King's will then return to conference play on Wednesday with a 6&8 p.m. doubleheader in St. David against Eastern University.
