Men's Basketball to Play at Trinity on Friday in NCAA First Round

NEW LONDON, N.H., – March 2, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team will play at Trinity (CT) in the 2014-15 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball First Round on Friday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Oosting Gymnasium.

Prior to the Colby-Sawyer vs. Trinity contest, Eastern Connecticut State (22-5) and Salisbury (20-7) will square off at 5:30 p.m. in the other first round game at the site.  5207

Tickets are six dollars for adults and three dollars for students. The Colby-Sawyer Athletic Department will pay for all Colby-Sawyer students with a valid ID. 

The two winners will meet on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

SCOUTING TRINITY: The Bantams enter the NCAA Tournament coming off a 55-52 loss to eventual New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) champion Wesleyan, in the semifinals. Trinity is 20-6 and won the regular season title with a 9-1 conference record. Junior guard Jaquann Starks is the only Bantam to average double figures with 13.5 points per game. Sophomore Ed Ogundeko scores 9.7 points and grabs a team best 8.1 rebounds per game. The Bantams are making their eighth trip to the NCAA and first since 2008. 

CHARGERS UPDATE: Colby-Sawyer won the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) for the first time since joining the league in 2011-12. The Chargers have won eight of the last nine games and will enter the tournament on a three-game winning streak. The team is led by junior Peter Donato (Portland, Maine) who was named NAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year. He averages 14.7 points and 6.8 boards per game, while also leading the team with 36 blocks. Junior Wol Majong was named NAC MVP and NAC Second Team and is second on the team with 14.2 points per game.

GAME NOTE: The Chargers boast one of the highest scoring lineups in the nation with 79.4 points per game. Meanwhile, Trinity is a solid defensive team and allows only 63.1 points per game.  

NCAA TOURNAMENT: This year's trip to the NCAA Tournament is the program's fourth and first since the 2002-03 season. Last time out, the Chargers lost to Hamilton.

ALL-TIME SERIES: Friday's game will be the second all-time meeting between the two teams. The only other meeting came in the 2001-02 NCAA Tournament with the Bantams winning 75-47.
