PINEVILLE, La. - The LC men erased a 12-point second-half lead by Texas Lutheran but were unable to fully recover in a 61-59 loss to the Bulldogs in the second conference contest of the year for the Wildcats.
LC (2-3, 1-1 ASC), who fell behind 39-27 after a 12-2 run by TLU to start the second half, were able to pull to within 58-57 of the lead with 38 seconds to play but the Bulldogs' Jaren English and Brad Howard were able to hit the requisite free throws to give the visiting team the win.
The Wildcats were led in scoring by junior point guard JeLani Mitchell (St. Martinville, La./St. Martinville HS) and junior wing
Jarrod Jackson (Albany, La./Albany HS).
Mitchell, who hit three 3-pointers in the second half to pace the LC offense, finished with 17 while Jackson was good for 16.
Only one player from TLU (1-2, 1-1 ASC) managed to reach double-figure scoring, Isaac Williams with 15.
Next up for the LC men will be a two-game conference road tip with visits to Howard Payne on Thursday and Sul Ross State on Saturday.
The Wildcats return home on Dec. 9 for a conference home game against Concordia at 7:30 p.m.
