UW-Eau Claire showed some of its potential during a decisive victory over Pacific Lutheran while Hardin-Simmons handled Wheaton (Ill.) to finish a 2-0 trip.

Starting four underclassmen and a junior, UW-Eau Claire scored the first 11 points of its matchup with Pacific Lutheran en route to an 83-55 victory in the women's finale of the seventh annual D3hoops.com Classic. The Blugolds outscored the Lutes 20-7 in the first quarter and, after Pacific Lutheran pulled within 10 midway through the second quarter, Eau Claire countered with an Anna Graaskamp layup and Jenni LaCroix three-pointer to stifle any hopes of a Lutes' rally. 

The Blugolds used their size advatage to outrebound the Lutes by 10 and shot 56 percent (10-for-18) from three. Graaskamp finished one rebound shy of a double-double and Hallee Hoeppner and Kayla Hanley scored 14 apiece for UW-Eau Claire (6-5). Kristin Sturdivan led Pacific Lutheran (1-10) with 12 points.

In the men's finale, Nathaniel Jack set a new Classic record for field goal percentage by shooting 8-for-8 from the floor, and Hardin-Simmons handled Wheaton (Ill.), 79-63. With Hardin-Simmons leading by three, Dashun Dixon scored seven points to key an 11-4 run to give the Cowboys some breathing room. Jack scored five points to cap a 10-0 run late in the first half to push the lead to 46-28 and the Thunder didn't get within single digits the rest of the way.

Hardin-Simmons outscored Wheaton 36-26 in the paint and got 16 points from Dixon, in addition to Jack's 17 points. Christian O'Neal added 13 for the Cowboys (9-4). Aston Francis scored 16 for the Thunder (5-6).
