Men's
David Fatoki
Fatoki scored a career-high 28 points, pulled down a career-best seven rebounds and added nine assists to lead the No. 3-ranked Bears to a 90-72 win over No. 5 Illinois Wesleyan at the WU Field House. Fatoki also scored nine points and dished out nine assists in a 80-70 win at Webster. Fatoki averaged 18.5 points, 9.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game and shot 58.3 percent (14-24) from the field, including 5-of-10 from 3-point range.
Sean Martin
Martin powered the Pride to a pair of wins to close out the first semester as he continued to shine from his point guard position. In wins vs. Westfield State and Nichols, the senior averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks while shooting over 52% from the floor. In Springfield's 83-70 win over Westfield, Martin pouted in 22 points to go along with eight assists, five boards, and a pair of steals while knocking down 12-of-14 from the charity stripe. In the win at Nichols, Martin was masterful in breaking down the Bison's full court press and delivered 19 points and stuffed his stat sheet with five assists, four rebounds, and three steals in 36 minutes of action.
Derrick Jefferson
Jefferson scored 26 of his 31 points in the second half as Hardin-Simmons pulled away from Southwestern. He was 8-for-8 from the field and 9-of-10 from the line in the second half. The 31 points tied his career high. He also added seven rebounds and five assists in the game.Jefferson now has 200 steals for his career. He became just the second player in American Southwest Conference history (joining Benny West of Howard Payne) with 1200 points, 600 rebounds, 200 assists, 200 steals, 50 blocks and 50 3-pointers made.
Ed Reddick
Reddick was named the MVP of the BC/Don Glick Classic as he helped the Eagles go 2-0 in their tournament. Reddick scored a career-high 31 points and added 13 rebounds in the Eagles 74-63 victory over Greensboro. Reddick finished the weekend with 22 points and seven rebounds as the Eagles defeated Milligan 81-71. Milligan received votes in last ween's NAIA Top 25. Reddick averaged 26.5 points and 10 rebounds during the two games.
Granville Gittens
Gittens led the team in scoring in conference wins over Staten Island and York in leading Bearcats to a 6-1 record and 3-0 start in CUNYAC. He recorded a double-double of 23 points, 10 rebounds, two steals in home win vs. defending conference champions York (N.Y.) and added 25 points and 13 rebounds in a big road win at Staten Island.
Women's
Heather and Hannah Cain
In a 63-59 loss at Babson last Monday night, sisters Heather and Hannah Cain combined for 24 points (12 each), 13 rebounds (career-high seven for Heather, six for Hannah), three assists (all Hannah) and three steals (all Heather). Heather had five points in an 18-7 run that erased a 10-point deficit, but the Judges couldn't hang on in the second half.
Melissa Gilkey
Gilkey recorded a pair of double-doubles to lead Washington U. to two wins last week. She had 19 points and 10 rebounds in an 88-59 road win at Webster. Gilkey scored 29 of her season-high 31 points in the second half to lead the Bears to a 76-65 win over Millikin. In the win over Millikin, she shot 75 percent from the field (12-16), including a pair of 3-pointers, and equaled her season-high with 11 rebounds while playing just 24 minutes. Gilkey also had three blocked shots in each of the wins.
Taylor Mathers
Mathers averaged 15.5 points per game and 10 rebounds per game in a pair of games at Hope. The forward recorded her third double-double of the season, posting 23 points and 13 rebounds against Chicago. Mathers also added five blocks against the Maroons, leading all players in the contest in points, rebounds and blocks. Mathers continued to be extremely efficient from the field, converting 13 of her 18 shot attempts (72.2 percent) from the field.
Kristen Schulz
Schulz nearly recorded an unprecedented quadruple-double in the Warriors' 72-56 NACC win at Rockford. She stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, 21 rebounds, 11 blocks, and eight assists. The 11 blocks were a single-game program record. It marks just the second triple-double registered in program history.
