Michael Cohen
Cohen scored 39 points on only 19 field goal attempts to help
Pomona-Pitzer to two conference wins. He broke a 57-57 tie with
1:06 left on a 3-pointer to help the Sagehens avoid an upset bid at
the hands of Caltech, which came in with two wins in its previous
three games. He finished with 21 points on 7-for-11 shooting, after
tallying 18 points on 6-for-8 shooting in a win over Occidental. He
averaged 19.5 points on 68.4 percent shooting and 6.0 assists on
the week, as the helped Pomona-Pitzer improve to 7-6 in the SCIAC
after starting out 0-5.
Luke Silverman-Lloyd
Silverman-Lloyd posted back-to-back career-highs as the Bears went
1-1 on the final road trip of the years. Silverman-Lloyd averaged
21 points and shot 81.8 percent (9-of-11) from 3-point range in the
two games. He tied a career-high with 20 points on 4-of-5
three-pointers in a 93-87 loss at No. 20 Emory on Friday, and
followed that up with a career-best 22 points on 5-of-6 3-pointers
in a 94-87 win at Rochester on Sunday.
Joey Flannery
Flannery averaged 25.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5
steals while shooting 51.5 percent from the floor and 100 percent
from the line as the Beavers won a pair of conference games. He
opened the week with 19 points, six boards and four assists in a
76-57 victory over Springfield, and then scored 24 of his 31 points
in the second half and overtime in Saturday's 77-73 win over Clark.
Flannery, who finished 10-of-19 from the floor and 8-of-8 at the
line, also had five rebounds and three steals against the
Cougars.
Coltrane Powdrill
Powdrill amassed 63 points, 23 rebounds, seven assists, four
steals and four blocks in two games while helping the Kingsmen win
their seventh straight game and secure sole possession of first
place in the SCIAC. On an unforgettable senior night, Powdrill
played all 55 minutes of a 111-108 triple-overtime victory against
Whittier, pouring in 36 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. The senior
scored five of the final six points for CLU and sank a season-high
14 of 17 from the free-throw line while dishing out five assists
and tallying three steals. Earlier in the week, Powdrill scored 27
points on a 10-for-15 shooting night and grabbed seven rebounds to
lead the Kingsmen to a 71-64 win over La Verne.
Cameron Anderson
Anderson averaged 22.7 points, 11 rebounds and 1.3 assists while
adding three steals and nine blocks over three games. The junior
forward shot 58.7 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from
deep. Anderson saved his best game for the Eagles' final game of
the week posting 33 points and 17 boards which also included two
threes and two blocks.
Women's
Sally Linzmeier
The Yellowjackets only played one game last week but it was a big
one, and Linzmeier led the way to victory. Linzmeier posted a
triple-double Saturday afternoon, playing all but one minute of the
game and helping the Yellowjackets to the win at home, 58-46 over
No. 20 UW-Oshkosh. The win avenged a loss earlier in the season to
the Titans and helped the Yellowjackets jump into a tie for first
place in the WIAC with Oshkosh. She finished with 18 points, 11
rebounds and 10 assists.
Jacole Hairston
Hairston scored career-high 41 points in a win over USA South
(Northern Division) leader Greensboro Feb. 11 at home. In the
process, became Ferrum's all-time leading scorer and now has 1555
career points. She shot 60 percent from the floor, 9-for-17 from
3-point range and 13-for-15 from the line, averaging 27 points and
3.3 assists in the three games.
Sydney Moss
Moss helped lead the top-ranked Saints to a pair of wins last week
over Geneva and Washington and Jefferson. She led the team in
scoring, rebounding and assists as she averaged 30.0 points and 9.0
rebounds per game, while dishing out 12 assists to go with three
blocks and four steals. Moss scored 43 points and pulled down 13
rebounds, while recording five assists and two steals against
W&J.
Samantha Alakai
Alakai set career-highs in points and rebounds in Smith's 63-61
loss to Trinity (Conn.) on Feb. 11, scoring 24 points and grabbing
nine boards. She followed that performance up with 20 points, six
rebounds and three assists against Babson on Saturday, marking the
17th time in 22 games this season Alakai has scored in
double-figures for the Pioneers. For the week, Alakai averaged 22
points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and one steal.
Sara Dyslin
Dyslin averaged 21.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks and 1.5
steals per game as the Warriors won both their games over the
weekend. She netted a career-high 26 points, including the
game-winning layup at the buzzer, to defeat Berry, tied for first
in the SAA at the time. She also had 14 rebounds, an assist, three
blocks and a steal in the win against Vikings. In Sunday's win
against Oglethorpe, Dyslin posted her ninth double-double of the
year with 17 points and 11 boards. She also had a pair of steals
and a season-high six blocks. She shot 72.7 percent
(16-of-22) from the field and 91.7 percent (11-of-12) from the free
throw line on the week.
