1987 Division III men's basketball tournament

North Park established itself as one of the premier basketball schools at any level with its fifth Division III men's basketball national championship in 13 seasons. In the title game, North Park faced another Final Four veteran in Clark, the 1984 national runner-up. Division I transfer Kermit Sharp of Clark set a tournament record with 160 points in five games, and Clark rallied by outscoring the Vikings 70-51 in the second half before falling. Michael Starks had 30 points and nine rebounds in the title game. North Park had rallied to beat Wittenberg in the semifinals after trailing 42-31 at the half.
