Of the thousands of players in Division III women's basketball, these are the 25 we picked as the best in the country. Stellar Smith forward Morgan Morrison was selected Player of the Year and Mary Schleusner of Washington and Lee was chosen as Rookie of the Year.
This All-Region team looks a lot like the NESCAC first-team all-conference selections, including Tufts' Maggie Russell as Player of the Year and Hamilton's Taylor Lambo as Rookie of the Year. Coach of the Year goes to Emily Garner who led Trinity (Conn.) to new heights.
Five New England teams advanced through the 2023 Tournament sectional semifinals, as Rhode Island College sank No. 10 Chicago, No. 4 Smith outlasted Mary Washington, No. 13 Babson took care of Marietta and both NESCAC teams won their Sweet 16 games on Friday night.

MEDFORD, MA (March 4, 2023) -- Junior forward Maggie Russell posted a game-high 23 points while pulling in 16 rebounds for the No. 21 Tufts University women's basketball team as the Jumbos advanced to their 11th straight Sweet 16 with a 59-50 NCAA Tournament Second Round win over Skidmore College in action from Cousens Gymnasium.

No. 3 Scranton and Tufts secured home court for their upcoming conference playoffs with dramatic wins on Saturday afternoon. Elsewhere, No. 5 Smith all but locked up the NEWMAC and Pomona-Pitzer spoiled No. 23 La Verne's bid for SCIAC perfection. Read about it here.
UW-Eau Claire won in overtime to stay on top of the WIAC standings but Ohio Northern stumbled into a first place tie in the OAC. Elsewhere, Tufts kept pace in the jumbled NESCAC and Stockton kept the NJAC race interesting.
No. 15 Chicago handled No. 1 New York University and handed the Violets their first loss, and No. 6 Scranton blitzed Elizabethtown in its Landmark Conference showdown. Nine teams that had their last Tournament run cut short by COVID-19 returned to the Round of 16 with wins on Saturday night. That includes UW-Oshosh after its upset win at No. 4 Simpson, No. 5 Trine which rolled past No. 12 John Carroll and a familiar pair of NESCAC pachyderms.
