FORT WAYNE, Indiana — For a few weeks last year, Jason Ellis had come to terms with his Marietta College basketball career ending following the shortened COVID season.
When Jon VanderWal arrived at Marietta in 2007, the Pioneers were playing in front of 75 fans and were lucky to come up with six wins. After two previous losses in the round of eight, however, the Pioneers finally punched that ticket.
