RIVER FOREST, Ill. ? Building off of their first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) win earlier in the week, the Concordia University Chicago women?s basketball team put together one of the best defensive efforts in the long history of the program on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Alverno College Inferno 60-24.
Concordia-Chicago has appointed Lauren Rosengarden as head coach for its women's basketball program. Rosengarden succeeds Rusty Rogers, who has announced his retirement after coaching the team for the past four seasons.
It was a tight game for the full forty minutes until the Falcons were able to hold on late and fend off a game tying three from the Cougars to win 75-72.
The Cougars' opposition today was the Marian University Sabres. The Cougars came out strong and built their lead to over 20 points, but the Sabres fought back and kept it interesting. In the end Taylor Jacobsen's 33 and Lauren Orr's double-double helped to fight off Marian 70-52.
The Cougars traveled to Thornton Gymnasium in Aurora, IL to take on the Aurora University Spartans. It was a hard-fought battle all evening, but the Cougars' teamwork came through in the end as they pulled away to an 82-72 victory.
The Cougars rode hot shooting of Lauren Orr who matched her career high in points with 25, and Miranda Rogers who finished with five triples on the day. CUC had to fight furious comeback from Lakeland, which they were able to hold on by the final score of 87-82.

fter an extended road trip, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars Women’s Basketball team returned to the friendly confines of Geiseman Gymnasium tonight. The night was joyous for the Cougars, going wire-to-wire for the 69-59 win.
The Cougars struggled shooting from the field and even more from deep. Second chance points proved costly for CUC allowing 23 offensive rebounds. CUC competed throughout, but a one point lead with 1:31 left would not hold up. The Cougars suffered their first loss of the season 58-55.
