Bluffton University senior Thayne Recker (Arlington) earned his second straight All-Great Lakes Region honor after a second consecutive First Team All-Heartland Conference award. Recker, a Third Team honoree this season, and Bergman are the only two D3hoops.com All-Region selections in Bluffton men's basketball history.
Bluffton senior Thayne Recker (Arlington) added another First Team All-Heartland Conference award into his already overflowing trophy case when the All-HCAC men’s basketball team was announced on Tuesday. It marks the second straight season that Recker earned First Team All-HCAC honors. He is just the fifth Beaver and the first since Scott Bergman in 2005-06 to collect consecutive First Team All-HCAC honors.
Things didn’t end the way they started on Saturday as the home team used a 52-26 second-half advantage to erase a 41-28 half-time deficit. The Beavers dropped an 80-67 decision to finish the season with an overall record of 12-13 and 7-11 in the HCAC. The Panthers improved to 14-11 and 12-6 in conference play and they enter the HCAC Tournament as the #3 seed.

The Bluffton University men’s basketball team fell in a key HCAC road game to the Transylvania University Pioneers, 73-64, on Saturday, Feb. 6. The loss knocks the Beavers to 10-11 overall and 5-9 in HCAC play while the Pioneers improved to 9-12 and 8-6 in the conference.
The home squad was able to jump out to a quick lead and battle through a tough stretch in the middle to get the 92-71 win, improving to 10-10 overall with a 5-8 mark in the HCAC.

The Bluffton University men’s basketball team played host to the Franklin College Grizzlies on Saturday, Jan. 23, in an HCAC contest. The Beavers came into the game looking to end their five-game slide, and managed to do so by holding off a pesky Grizzly squad by a score of 83-79. Bluffton improved to 9-8 (4-6 HCAC) while Franklin fell to 1-16 (1-9 HCAC) on the season.

It helped the Beavers cap their first-ever women's and men's road sweep of the Griz following a thrilling 69-68 Bluffton victory in the lidlifter. Bluffton improved to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the Heartland Conference, while Franklin dipped to 1-10 on the season and 1-3 in the HCAC.
Hiram College was too much for Bluffton as the Terriers rolled to a convincing 91-71 victory in the McDonald's of Bluffton Holiday Tournament championship game on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015. The Beavers slipped to 7-3 on the season, while Hiram upped its mark to 8-2. It was a rematch of the 2014 final which Bluffton won 64-59.
Bluffton University took on Washington & Jefferson in the semifinals of the McDonald's Holiday Tournament on Tuesday, Dec. 29. The Beavers jumped on top with a nice start and never looked back as they were able to dominate all aspects of the game. Bluffton took advantage of a hot start from Thayne Recker (Arlington) throughout the first half before a strong second stanza from the bench pushed the Beavers to 7-2 on the season.
The Bluffton University men’s basketball team cruised to a 98-55 victory over the Ohio Midwestern Rams on Friday, Dec. 18. The Beavers improved to 6-2 overall heading into their Christmas break.

The Beavers fought hard, but were unable to keep their perfect conference record intact, falling by a score of 66-62. Bluffton slipped to 5-2 (2-1 HCAC) on the season while Rose-Hulman improved to 5-3 (2-1 HCAC).

The Beavers were able to pick up their fifth win of the season, including their 21st consecutive victory over the Quakers. The 72-61 win moved Bluffton to 5-1 (2-0 HCAC) on the season and kept Earlham winless at 0-5 and 0-2 in the HCAC.
The Bluffton University men's basketball team built a 16-point lead midway through the second half and held on for the 81-79 victory over Transylvania University on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, in the Heartland Conference opener for both teams. It marked the first time in school history that both the men and women have taken down Transylvania's basketball teams on the same day!
