SCRANTON, Pa. — Ohio Northern raced to a big early lead and cruised to a 62-38 victory over Marymount (Va.) in the first round of the NCAA III Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday evening.

The Game
- Fifth-year senior All-American Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) led all scorers with 20 points.
- She also grabbed six rebounds and dished out two assists to lead ONU.
- Freshman Chloee Glenn (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds off the bench for the Polar Bears.
- Senior Kristen Luersman (Fort Jennings) scored nine points and had a team-high seven rebounds.
- Chandler Eddleton led the Saints with 12 points and eight rebounds.
- Northern scored the game's first 10 points and led 19-2 with 1:49 left in the first quarter.
- ONU led 24-6 after the first period and 34-17 at halftime.
- The Polar Bears put the game away with a 10-2 run to open the second half.
- The lead grew to as large as 54-23 with 44 seconds left in the third period.
- Ohio Northern made 22-of-57 field goals for 38.6 percent and was 6-of-23 from beyond the arc for 26.1 percent while Marymount was 11-of-51 from the floor for 21.6 percent and finished 3-of-19 on 3-pointers for 42.9 percent.
- ONU made 12-of-14 free throws for 85.7 percent and MC was 6-of-12 from the line for 15.8 percent.
- The Polar Bears held a 41-31 advantage in rebounds and each team committed 17 turnovers.

- The Polar Bears have now won their last nine NCAA Tournament First Round games and are 9-2 all-time in their opening game of the tournament.
- Northern is now 12-12 in its 11 NCAA Tournament appearances.
- ONU is now 1-0 all-time against MC.
- Serbin is ONU's all-time leader in career steals with 300 and assists with 399.
- Serbin ranks second on ONU's all-time career scoring list with 1,337 points. She ranks third all-time with 191 made 3-pointers in her career, is 10th all-time in made free throws with 228, is 12th all-time in rebounds with 589 and fourth all-time with 459 made field goals.
- Serbin is the only women's basketball player in ONU history to tally at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists and 300 steals in her career.
- Serbin's 22-point game marks this her 21st game in double digits in scoring this season.
- Luersman is now 16th in ONU history with 512 career rebounds.
- Fourth-year head coach Mark Huelsman is now 69-30 at Ohio Northern for a winning percentage of .697.
