Erica Miller and Natalie Bruns combined for 31 points to lead New York University's women's basketball team in a dominant, 80-44 victory over Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, on Friday night.
Miller poured in 16 and Bruns 15, both recording season highs in scoring in the Violets' first road game of the year as they improved to 3-0.
NYU never trailed in this one, scoring the opening six points of the night and leading 21-9 at the end of the first quarter after Mary Kate Fahey's triple with 54 seconds left.
The Violets held a 43-24 advantage at halftime, led by Bruns scoring all 15 of her points across the first two quarters on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor.
Ten different Violets scored in the second half and NYU held Vassar to 26.5 percent shooting during the final two quarters to run away with its third straight win to begin 2022-23.
Miller shot 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-17 from deep in 20 minutes of action. Bruns posted her 15 points, eight boards and four blocks in just 19 minutes.
Belle Pellecchia was the third Violet in double figures, delivering 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting along with five rebounds, four assists and a steal.
Alyssa Alvarez added a season-high seven points, shooting 2-of-5 from distance and 1-of-2 at the stripe.
In total, 13 Violets scored as the team shot 49.2 percent, won the rebounding battle 47-33 and forced 17 Vassar turnovers.
NYU returns to action tomorrow, November 19, hosting Kean University at the Brooklyn Athletic Facility. Tip is schedule for 6:00 p.m.
