LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's basketball team got off to a hot start and held off visiting MSOE to snap a two-game skid as Alex Fanning fell an assist shy of a triple-double.

THE DETAILS
• MSOE jumped out to a 7-2 lead, holding Benedictine to just one field goal in the first five minutes
• Benedictine came back and was able to tie the game at 9-9 on a three from Brilan McCory and a layup from Claire Gibler to open a 15-0 run to close the first
• McCory converted on a layup with 39 seconds remaining in the quarter as Benedictine led 19-9
• The lead reached 19 following an 8-0 run early in the second that featured consecutive triples from McCory and Sara Smith as Benedictine led 30-11 with 7:47 left in the half
• The visitors pulled within eight but a layup from Alex Fanning in the waning moments of the half allowed Benedictine to lead 34-24 at the break
• Three different players scored to open the second half as part of a 7-0 to put Benedictine in front 41-24 with 8:20 remaining in the third
• MSOE pulled within eight and trailed 50-41 entering the fourth
• Benedictine tallied the first three points of the fourth to grab a 53-41 edge
• MSOE chopped the deficit down to five points at 56-51 with 3:26 to go but Benedictine closed the game with eight straight to pull away
STAT LEADERS
• Benedictine shot 50 percent in the fourth quarter and finished the game shooting 40.7 percent while making eight threes
• Benedictine held a 46-33 edge on the glass and scored 23 points off 13 turnovers
• McCory led all scorers with 22 points, finishing 9-of-13 from the floor
• Gibler tacked on 12 points to go with seven rebounds
• Fanning tallied 12 points along with 13 rebounds, nine assists, three blocks and a steal
