Oxy Goes Undefeated in Thanksgiving Classic

LOS ANGELESKulaea Tulua led three players in double figures with 13 points as the Occidental women's basketball team beat Bard College 77-57 at Rush Gym on Saturday.

The Tigers went 2-0 in their annual Thanksgiving Classic, dual hosted by Caltech.

Oxy beat Bethesda 67-38 on Friday.

The Tigers move to 3-2 on the season.

"I loved our intensity tonight," Oxy head coach Anahit Aladzhanyan said. "We played hard, controlled the temp, and we were in sync. It was a fun team win to build some momentum going into SCIAC play next week."

Tulua went 6 for 7 from the field on shots around the basket.

Oxy had outstanding play from its point guards. Taylor Yoshida had 10 points, four rebounds and four assists, Maylene U. Hughes had eight points, five rebounds and five assists, and Clarissa Kiyomura scored five points, grabbed four rebounds and had three assists.

Raveena Dhiman had 12 points and nine rebounds for Oxy, Madison Toy and Mallory North had nine, and Kiarra Young added seven.

Bard's best effort was by Christina Kiser, who led all scorers with 25 points.

The Tigers are back in action on on Wednesday at Caltech at 7 p.m.
