Keuka College Downed at Alfred 63-42

ALFRED, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost on Tuesday night at Alfred University 63-42 in a non-conference game.

Keuka College (3-2) was led by Riley Record (Palmyra, N.Y. / Palmyra-Macedon) with 12 points. Anna Hoover (Cape Vincent, N.Y. / Thousand Islands) finished with a team-high seven rebounds.

The hosts made their first four shots from the floor as the Saxons took an early 10-2 lead over the Wolves. A three by Sydney Bloom (Penn Yan, N.Y. / Penn Yan Academy) cut the lead to five at 12-7, but Alfred went on a 12-0 run that spanned over five minutes to take control. Alfred led 24-11 after the first.

Riley Record scored five of Keuka's 10 points in the second quarter. The Wolves held the Saxons shooting in check as Alfred only scored 12 in the frame to lead 36-21 at the half.

The Saxons put the game away in the third quarter. Alfred would outscore Keuka 21-14 in the frame, shooting 56.3% from the floor. Riley Record hit a three at the buzzer, but the Saxons led 57-35 following three quarters.

Keuka College won a low-scoring fourth quarter 7-6, they were unable to overcome the Saxon lead as Alfred defeated Keuka 63-42 on Tuesday.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves return to the floor in a week as Keuka College travels to Elmira College to face the Soaring Eagles next Tuesday. The Wolves defeated Elmira last season at home. It was the first meeting between the two local schools since the 2001 season.
