BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker to Skyline foe Sarah Lawrence College, 65-63, at the Campbell Sports Center on Sunday afternoon. The Gryphons advance to 1-15 in the conference (2-20 overall), while the Maccabees drop to 3-10 in Skyline play (6-13 overall).

Leading the way for the Maccabees was senior guard Nicole Bick, who scored a career-high 35 points. The Edison native also grabbed eight rebounds, forced three steals, and distributed a pair of assists. Senior forward Michal Alge produced a double-double with 21 points and 21 rebounds, while collecting six steals and dishing out two dimes. Junior forward Tehilla Teigman produced seven points with 17 rebounds.

Yeshiva got off to a strong start, as a successful jump shot by Alge put the visiting team up, 9-2, with 7:25 left to play in the opening quarter. Sarah Lawrence outscored Yeshiva, 14-8, for the remaining 7:09 of the period to narrow YU's lead to 17-16 after 10 minutes of play.

The Gryphons grabbed a narrow 29-28 advantage with 2:43 remaining in the half, but Bick answered with a layup to put Yeshiva back up by one. Bick struck again on the next offensive possession by converting a jump shot to extend the Blue and White's lead to 32-29 with just under two minutes remaining. Yeshiva finished the half strong, as Bick nailed a jump shot to increase the Maccabees' lead to 36-33 with under a minute to play. That was the score at the intermission.

Sarah Lawrence opened the second half with a 10-2 run to take a 43-38 lead. Yeshiva countered with 12 unanswered points, capped off by a layup from Alge off a feed from Bick, to go up by a score of 50-43 with 3:43 to go in the third. Later in the stanza, Bick converted a layup to extend YU's lead to 56-48 with 1:18 left. Sarah Lawrence scored the last four points of the period to cut the deficit to four, entering the final period of regulation time.

After the Gryphons tied the game, 56-56, Alge countered with a layup to put the Macs back up by two. Sarah Lawrence answered with an 8-1 run to go up, 64-59, with 1:21 remaining. On the next possession, Bick was fouled and hit a pair of free throws to make it a one-possession game. Yeshiva was able to get a stop on the defensive end and Bick drove to the basket and converted a layup to pull YU to within one, at 64-63, with 44 ticks left on the clock.

Senior guard Penny Rabin grabbed a defensive rebound off a missed shot with 35 seconds to go, giving Yeshiva a chance to take the lead. However, sophomore guard Tess Carrier forced a steal. Sarah Lawrence could not convert and Alge came down with the rebound but threw the ball out of bounds for a turnover. Yeshiva had no choice but to intentionally foul senior forward Emmamazy Prior, with four seconds to go. She missed the first free throw but nailed the second shot from the charity stripe. The Maccabees called a 30-second timeout. YU inbounded the ball but could not get a shot off and Sarah Lawrence went on to earn its first Skyline win in program history.
