MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Sewanee women's basketball team were downed by the Lynx of Rhodes College, 72-60, Sunday afternoon inside Mallory Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Rhodes sprinted out to a 21-9 first quarter lead, as the home team forced five Sewanee turnovers and shot 8-of-16 from the field.

-Sewanee cut the deficit from 20 at the end of the third quarter to 12 at the final buzzer thanks to a 27-19 fourth quarter.

-The Tigers did most of their work from the free throw line. As a team, they went 18-of-20 (90 percent), the highest mark for the Purple and Gold this season (minimum 10 attempts). In the fourth quarter, 11 of the team's 27 points came at the charity stripe.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Bella Taylor dropped a season-best 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting and added six boards. The senior is now 36 points away from tying Kim Fauls Parlett's (C'97) 1,559 career points.

-Ellie Treanton, who went a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe, and Bella Bombassi each added eight points.

RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-Alyssa Owens led the Lynx with 14 points, while Caroline Taylor added 12 off the bench.

-Allie Young dropped 11 boards.

UP NEXT
The final three regular season games will take place inside Juhan Gymnasium. The homestand begins Friday with a test against the surging Vikings of Berry, who will enter next weekend with a seven-game winning streak.
