The Baruch College Bearcats overcame a slow first quarter to defeat the Cougars of Medgar Evers College, 74-64, on Tuesday night in Brooklyn, New York.

The visiting Bearcats shot a season high 52 percent from the field and took the lead for good on a lay up by Frances Snyder with 3:37 left in the second quarter to jump ahead, 21-20.

They stayed ahead the rest of the game with consistent shooting and took advantage of 26 turnovers by the Cougars to score 26 points.

Melinda Spahiu was tops with a double-double of 21 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and five steals.

Natalie Ibelhaupt scored a career-high 19 points and Daniela Zirpolo had her second career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the road win.

Cyndi White led the Cougars with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
